An Exhibition On The Human Cost of the Iraq War

Eyes Wide Open, the American Friends Service Committee’s widely acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War, returns to Austin on September 12th at Auditorium Shores.

The exhibit features a pair of boots honoring each Texas military casualty, a field of shoes to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a display exploring the history, cost and consequences of war. To view past Eyes Wide Open exhibits, visit the website http://www.afsc.org/eyes/.

  • Hospitality tent for veterans, active military, and their families
  • Veterans are welcomed to wear medals in solidarity with the fallen

AUDITORIUM SHORES PARKING

  • There is very limited parking at the exhibit site.  Auditorium Shores provides a small lot near the Gazebo and parallel parking along the park.
  • There is public parking on Riverside on the west side of Lamar near the Austin Parks Building .
  • Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk, or run to the exhibit, as it located on the hike & bike trail.

Between Riverside Drive, South First Street and Barton Springs Road just south of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin 

Cost: $7.00 per car, fee paid at booths upon entering garage

Garage hours are from 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM daily (hours may vary).

Sunday: St. David’s Episcopal Church parking garage, 304 East 7th.

The elderly and the mobility impaired may park in the surface lot behind the church. The entrance is located on 9th Street between Brazos and San Jacinto Streets.
